ABOUT US
HabitatStead is an organization dedicated to raising awareness about the potential for human exploration in Outer Space. Our goal is to see that humankind has the liberty to explore and settle Space in a civilized and free manner. We seek to fund this awareness through the selling of novelty deeds to exoplanets, celestial bodies orbiting their own stars with their own gravity outside of our own solar system. From harsh gas giants to rocky spheres much like our own, anyone can buy a novelty deed to these discoveries.
Currently, the true private ownership of these and other bodies is restricted by the United Nations Treaty on Outer Space, Part 1E Article 11, page 31-32. UNITED NATIONS OUTER SPACE TREATY 1967. If enforced, this legislation will severely restrict individual property rights and human progress. Along with every deed we send a letter that the new owner can fill out and send to the United States UN Ambassador. This letter strongly encourages the Ambassador to consider the importance of property rights in Space.
HabitatStead was created by Benjamin D. Myles who has a passion for property rights and Outer Space. Originally Benjamin started his college career pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville before returning to his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky to finish his academic career by studying political science at the University of Louisville. He continues his love for Outer Space through an enjoyment of science fiction and this project. Two of the most influential books that have contributed to the combination of these passions are “Space Capitalism” by Professor Walter Block and “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress” by Robert A. Heinlien.
